Oil & Gas Projects

IPCO had extensive experience in the turnkey construction of onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities.

In Nigeria, IPCO has completed both Phase I and Phase II of the Calabar Oil Products Terminal and the Bonny Export Terminal. In Southern Thailand, IPCO through a joint venture installed a 210 km gas pipeline.

Bonny Export Terminal

The Bonny Export Terminal (US$251 m) in Port Harcourt of Nigeria. The project involves the construction of an oil products export terminal, including pipelines, sea island, tanks, pumping systems, and auxiliary facilities.

The EPC contract was won in a tender against international competitors. IPCO proposed an innovative design and arranged a financing for the construction of the project. The IPCO alternative  provided the client saving in capital costs and earlier revenue from speedier construction.

IPCO arranged funding by means of a revolving credit facility based on an oil product offtake agreement. The credit facility was syndicated through major European banks.

This major project included detailed engineering, purchasing of major components and on site construction and installation.

Oil Tanker Deballasting Facility

IPCO was contracted to design and construct an onshore deballasting facility in conjunction with a 50,000 DWT tanker product loading terminal on Pulau Pesek, Singapore. The treatment facility receives tanker ballast water, removes slop oil for processing and discharges a high grade of effluent, meeting the stringent requirements set by the Ministry of Environment.

The project was completed, on schedule, 10 months after contract award.

Bontang Gas Pipeline

IPCO, in joint venture, completed the contract for the design, supply and installation of a 36" diameter high pressure gas pipeline in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The 57 km long pipeline runs from the Badak gas field to the Train F LNG plant at Bontang and is constructed within the same right-of-way (ROW) as existing 36", 42", 16" and 6" pipelines.

The major challenge of this project, was to install the new line without disturbing the adjacent "live" gas pipelines. Innovative pipeline construction techniques were required to ensure that rigid specifications, high standards of workmanship and speed of construction were achieved.

The project was completed in 23 months, one month ahead of schedule

Melaka Lateral Gas Pipeline

IPCO completed the contract to provide a 34 km gas pipeline system consisting of 20" dia and 12" dia pipeline, including two metering and regulating sales stations for Petronas Gas Sdn Bhd, as part of Malaysia's Peninsular Gas Utilisation Project.

The 20" dia pipeline is to supply gas to the Melaka Lube Oil Refinery whilst the 12" dia pipeline is for the 220 MW Gas Turbine at the Tanjung Kling Power Station.

Despite additions to the work scope, the project was successfully completed ahead of schedule

Mossel Bay Gas Platform

Following competitive tender, IPCO was contracted to hook-up and commission an 8 leg, 16 well gas platform in the Indian Ocean.

With the jacket, piles and conductors installed, a 4000T module support frame, eight topsides modules, a heli-deck and a flare boom were then installed and readied for hook-up.

IPCO's 540 man workforce was accommodated on a converted semi-submersible drilling rig. Despite weather delays and significant additions to work scope, the hook-up and commissioning was successfully completed on schedule

Champion Gas Slug Catcher (Lumut, Brunei)

Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas awarded IPCO a contract to construct a slug catcher and associated works.

Paperwork, valves and fittings were installed on concrete sleepers and 4-pile reinforced concrete anchors. Access and supports and a test / production separator were also provided. A pipeline was laid to tie-in the offshore pipeline to the slug catcher.

Crude Oil Loading Terminals, Iran

IPCO was contracted to a design and construct a US$160 million offshore crude oil loading terminal. The award, based on an IPCO alternative technical proposal, was the largest subsea pipeline installed by the bottom pull method.

Despite difficult site conditions, the project was completed in 9 months, two months ahead of schedule.

Gas Receiving And Distribution Terminal, Labuan Island Malaysia

IPCO was contracted to construct the gas receiving terminal and manifold center at the Ranca Ranca Industrial Estate on Labuan to receive and distribute gas from the offshore Samarang and Erb West Fields.

The construction was completed, on schedule, in 3 months.

Nosrat Platform, Nosrat Field, Persian Gulf

Ipco was contracted to design, fabricate and install a 4-pile wellhead platform, the centerpiece of the Nosrat Field Development.

Work on this challenging project was completed within the tight contract period of 9 months.

Offshore Facilities Hook-up, Norat Field, Persian Gulf

As part of the Nosrat Field Development, Ipco was contracted to hook-up a 12" submarine pipeline and 15 kV power cable to an existing production platform. Ipco was responsible for laying the pipeline and cable from the Nosrat Platform, which it also engineered and constructed.

Switch gear was installed on the PP platform for the cable tie-in. Following hydrostatic and electrical testing, the hook-up was successfully completed, on schedule.

Onshore Gas Pipeline, Labuan Island, Malaysia

As part of the massive Sabah Gas Utilization Project, Ipco was contracted to lay six kilometers of 18" gas transmission pipeline to connect the onshore gas receiving terminal, also constructed by Ipco, to the Ranca Ranca industrial estate on the other side of Labuan Island. The route for the buried pipeline passes through many types of terrain: hilly jungle, mangrove swamps and domestic and industrial developments. This presented a combination of installation problems that were successfully overcome. On completion, the pipeline was hydro-tested, flushed and then dried with methanol.

Pipeline Shore Approach, Labuan Island, Malaysia

Brown & Root contracted Ipco to prepare the shore approach for two 14" submarine gas pipeline from the Samarang and Erb West fields, part of the massive Sabah Gas Utilization Project.

The trench was then backfilled and the sheet piles removed. Final tie-in to the beach valves was carried out after hydro-testing of the submarine lines was completed.

Submarine Gas Pipeline, Labuan Island, Malaysia

As part of the Sabah Energy Corporation’s massive Gas Utilization Project, Ipco was contracted to lay 11 kilometers of 18" gas transmission pipeline, four kilometers crossing a bay including tidal flats of sand, soft mud and extensive rock and coral outcrops.

Due to poor ground conditions, engineered material was imported to backfill the trench, bringing the job to a successful close on schedule, 7 months after commencement.
